Very soon Inner City Dance is getting set for the release of the Power Of The Drum lp from seemingly "new artist" Carib. Known the world over as Marcus Visionary, Carib is Marcus's new alias for releasing his signature 140 bpm "Sub Soca" sound. Marcus adopted the "Carib" name from the title of his 2010 album exploring the 140 tempo. Originally released on Liondub International, the landmark project was an experimental interpretation of the prominent Dubstep movement of that time, referenced though Marcus's diverse musical and cultural heritage. Utilizing elements from House, Dub, Reggae, Techno, Broken Beats, Kuduro, African and UK Funky, the album achieved widespread critical and commercial success and inspired many to look at the 140 bpm template with a wider view.
Fast forward to 2014 and Marcus has decided to revisit some long filed away dubplates. Tracks that initially were meant to be the albums follow up, which never materialized due to a general shift back down to House tempo and interest levels in the style seemingly waning. The Power Of the Drum lp will feature 15 unreleased tracks of Marcus's signature Sub Soca all recorded between 2009 - 2011 that still sound just as fresh and invigorating today.
The "Riddim Clash" EP features a collection of bespoke Sub Soca riddims paired up with some exclusive re-fixes strictly for the DJ's to get the party started and set the tone for what's to come from Carib and Inner City Dance.
